CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Hatred comes toward me at the speed of a bullet, and I have been triggered. My heart feels as if it’s been ripped from my chest and stomped on. I feel used, betrayed, and disgusted. Mortified.

I’ve allowed my guard to come down with this man, and in return he has turned on me. I’ve never been so disappointed in myself in my twenty-five years in this world. I can’t believe I was naïve enough to fall for everything he was saying. Words. They were just words to him.

They meant nothing.

I’m only here for one reason from this day forward, and that’s one-hundred thousand dollars. That’s more money than I could ever receive, especially from working as a stripper. This money will save me, give me a new outlook on life, and I can start over from scratch.

Now, I completely give up with disobeying Mr. Edwards. Emotions no longer exist for me as I push them into the very back of my head, building up an unbreakable wall.

From this very second until our contract ends, I will be one thing to him and one thing only.

His perfect Submissive.

“Open your eyes,” he orders, in a silky voice.

Immediately obeying his command, I now see him in a much different light. He’s not the man I had been with yesterday. Kneeling inches away, Mr. Edwards concentrates on my face, as if he’s attempting to read my thoughts.

I swallow hard. “Yes, Master.”

“In order for this to work, I need to have your trust. All of it, as much as you can possibly give—”

Right away, I speak over him. “I don’t trust you,” I softly say. “Sir.”

“Pardon?” he lets out with a rumble.

“I confided in you. I told you about what happened with my parents. You lied to me, you betrayed me. You ruined that trust. You made it very clear that you no longer care about me anymore, and for that, I can’t trust you.”

His eyebrows knit together and he stares into my eyes, intrigued.

“Master,” I quickly add in.

“I assumed I had already made it clear that I care for you. If I didn’t care, then you would no longer be here with me. As my Submissive, I will take care of you. I will ensure you feel as safe and secure as you possibly can. This could be a very great experience for you, Sasha, if you weren’t so against giving it a damn try.”

“Yes, Master.”

“Come,” he announces, holding out his hand. “I’m taking you to the shower.”

Accepting it, reluctantly, we walk through the cabin hand in hand. My thoughts are erratic. My world is spinning. I feel lost.

Stepping into his room, my mind is on overload. My senses are heightened. I feel as though I don’t belong anywhere anymore, and it’s devastating. How stupid of me to let him in so easily.

The master bathroom is extraordinary. Although, before I have the chance to look over my surroundings, his image catches my attention from the corner of my eye. Jaxon unlocks our hands, steps out of his shoes, and our eyes meet.
